Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”)

The U.S. government offers Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to eligible nationals from certain designated countries, or to individuals without nationality who last habitually resided in a designated country. TPS allows these individuals to remain in the U.S. and work legally upon receiving employment authorization. This status is typically granted due to ongoing conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary conditions in the designated countries that make it unsafe for nationals to return.
